On Monday, May 21, 2018, ABC held the finale of their first season owning "American Idol." This first season of the newly revised show was like a breath of fresh air for many reasons, like the fact that they didn't rely on bad auditions for views (they primarily showed the best auditions and received more views with those than in past seasons when they showed the bad ones), they brought a bunch of kids from all over together and created a family (THEY ALL RAN UP AND HUGGED THE WINNER BECAUSE THEY WERE SO HAPPY FOR HER!! I'm not crying, you are), and the fact that they utilized other Disney properties like Hollywood Records to actually create long lasting careers for these kids.

This season's winner was the 20-year-old Iowa native, Maddie Poppe (my fave all season long, just saying) but before the news broke that Maddie had won, the runner-up, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, revealed before their duet that the two had been dating for months!! The internet, as well as myself, were all shocked and super excited for the pair because of how happy and in love they seemed to be. Here are some reasons why Caleb and Maddie are literally the cutest couple in Hollywood:

1. Their pictures on social media.

Since the pair made things official during the Top 24 week, according to Caleb, they have been all over each other's social media with the cutest personality pictures. You may be saying, "So? They're a young couple, of course, there are pictures on their social media accounts." The notable thing about this case is the fact that literally, no one noticed that they were dating until they announced it. So for several months (there's even a picture from the Top 24 when they started dating), they have been low key telling their fans they were together but no one put the puzzle pieces together!

2. Their personalities are similar.

The best types of relationships are the ones that start out as friends. These two have the type of relationship where they can be themselves around each other, and each of their personalities is super quirky and adorable in their own way!

3. He wrote a song about her.

Listen to Caleb's original song from the Top 3 and try to tell me it's not about her:

Caleb as also recently confirmed that his debut album is on the way and there are songs about Maddie on it and I cannot wait anymore!

4. He supported her win.

He could've been upset or jealous that she won over him, but instead, he held her hand, hugged her tightly, and kissed her on the forehead when they announced her name! Later that night he also posted this on his social media and it honestly made me cry:

5. The way she loves him back.

You can imagine winning a show like "American Idol" would make you too busy to ever check your phone, but she took time out of her busy day after her win to thank "American Idol" not just for the win, BUT FOR CALEB MOST OF ALL.

I'M NOT CRYING YOU ARE.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
