As the weather is beginning to make us freeze to death. We are now feeling trapped inside, at least I am! I find that exercising regularly can help improve my mood and overall energy amount. With finals in Eau Claire coming up in these next final week, everyone is stressed out. Exercising can actually improve your stress levels too. Here are a few ways that exercise can improve your overall health!
You'll Improve Your Memory
Ever feel like you think a bit more clearly after a good workout? Not only is your brain getting more energy and oxygen, but many studies have shown that exercise can boost your memory and help you learn better. Of course, an intense workout right before a big exam could leave you more tired than smart.
You'll Boost Your Confidence
Obviously, exercise can improve your appearance which can improve confidence, but there's more to it than that. Exercise can also help you feel more accomplished and social (if you work out at a gym). Even if you don't see immediate results in your body, the effort will make you feel better.
You'll De-Stress
Being a college student we all struggle with stress in our lives. Of course the academic stress but also the social stress in college. Stress can really wreak havoc on your mind, studies have shown that exercise is a great way to combat that. Not only are the endorphins natural stress-fighters but exercising also keeps your mind off the stress.
You'll Sleep Better
If you ever have trouble falling asleep at night, regular exercise can help you sleep better. The best time to workout is in the morning and the afternoon to boost your energy so you will be tired at night.
You'll Have More Energy
It may seem counter-intuitive—after all, working out can drain your energy quite a bit—but regular exercise can actually make you feel more energized throughout the day. In fact, one study found that exercising in the middle of the day can leave you feeling more energetic and productive the rest of the day.
You'll Be Healthier
Regular exercise helps prevent or manage a wide range of health problems and concerns, including stroke, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression, a number of types of cancer and arthritis.
You'll Be Happier
A gym session or brisk 30-minute walk can help. Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. You may also feel better about your appearance and yourself when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem.
Hoperfully all these reasons willl persuade you to visit your local gym more often, especially in the winter when we can't go outside!!
