Be it experience with breakups, struggles with familial ties, or the determination to do absolutely anything for the people you love, I have always felt a deep connection to the "Gilmore Girls."
So when I'm homesick and tired and craving a piece of something familiar, I think of Taylor’s need to celebrate every occasion of life with a festival, Kirk’s oblivious disregard for social norms working a new job every time we see him, and Luke serving his fourth cup of coffee and an order of chili fries to Lorelai — the woman I’m fairly certain I am in a future or previous life.
By growing up with Rory and Lorelai, I’ve realized that …
1. A lady never kisses and tells.
2. It’s okay to throw deviled eggs at someone’s car when the circumstances arise.
3. Stupid people have stupid friends and they all have to be stupid together.
4. It’s never okay to go through a lady’s bag... unless you’re a couple blocks away.
5. An education is the most important thing in the world, next to family. (and pie)
6. It’s most satisfying to eat while watching other people exercise.
7. Saying “Hello” to a man is not too forward (Verified.)
8. Finding a nice person to hang out with until dropping dead is not too much to ask for.
9. Saying thank you when someone kisses you is very polite.
10. It’s okay to make out in the coat room, just don’t let anyone eat your chicken.
11. Only prostitutes have two glasses of wine at lunch (obviously).
12. If it’s laundry day and you’re out of clothes, it’s okay to not wear any underwear.
And I've been around them long enough to realize that…
1. Kids will always have jam on their hands.
2. It’s okay if your internet’s slow because you can walk around, do a little dance, and make a sandwich while you wait.
3. You can scare the stupid out of someone, but the lazy runs deep.
4. Holding a grudge may not be beneficial, but it sure burns a lot more calories.
5. When your heart is involved, it all comes out in moron.
6. It’s Avril Lavigne’s world and we’re just living in it.
Moreover, I’ve experienced with the girls that people can live a hundred years without ever really living for a moment, coffee and time can heal most anything, and life’s too short — so talk fast.
