I will never forget the sense of relief my friends and I shared while walking out of class after taking our last final for the semester. Although I felt the need for months to recuperate, I can't say I'm not already well rested after less than a month of break. With the creeping up of classes, mental preparation happens naturally or sometimes by force.
But it's important to consider, how ready can one ever be for the start of another semester? It also comes with the byproducts of reuniting with friends, your dorm room and the little time you have left. This all happens while certain future professors think about what curveballs they'll be throwing your way.
Don't get me wrong, I love time away from school just as much as the next gal, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy back to school shopping. A new semester is an excuse for a novel vintage styled weekly planner, even though I'll probably be able to count the amount of times I will use it on one hand.
Soon you'll reunite with the dorm room that you left empty and alone. Once more you'll experience the feeling of independence that resonates through those walls on a daily basis. This will happen right next to all of the unnecessary, though undeniably cute items of "clutter" (as some might say) that you rightfully own.
For example, I change my tapestry each semester to brush the feeling of the last one away. New school supplies are also always welcoming, that is until we have a reason to use them. There's nothing as clarifying as an empty notebook, that has the potential to be filled with so much, but just doesn't have to be yet.
Your hard work will, however, come hand in hand with the friends that you will reunite with. After all, misery loves company and you'll all be drowning together. You'll be spending late nights at the library with each other, praying for days off and patting one another on the back for each good grade you receive (or crying on one another's shoulders). Most importantly, though, you will have more moments to look forward to.
