Fat shaming, slut shaming, skinny shaming, body shaming. All of these contribute to a problem that never seemed to have disappeared from society. Why don't people get the hint of stopping and moving forward with their lives instead of staying stagnant or moving backward just to be a malicious person? Beats me.

This 'issue' of body-shaming affects all members of society regardless of your age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, body shape, disability, etc. But, some groups are more 'prone' to be the ones that are shamed which would be children and teenagers.
It appears that today any sign of imperfection, especially being overweight, will bring fire and pitchforks. If you're showing a little too much skin and flab came out of the shirt slightly? Yeah, good luck trying to get past that. Nobody, not even me, wants those 'muffin tops' or 'thunder thighs' as I like to call my thighs my gargantuan thighs. I've tried the exercising, dieting, and just got to the point where I said, "screw this," and ignored the disagreements about my body.
Media loves thin. They love to show off skinny, tiny women in magazines, television shows, movies, social media posts, you name it. They love to show men with chiseled abs and have them wear tight t-shirts and tight jeans (which, don't get me wrong, is a beautiful sight to see). They love displaying Victoria's Secret models during their annual fashion show, which by the way, VS is canceled in my book as allowing 'plus-size' and transgender models to walk their show. They love the "Sports Illustrated" swimsuit catalogs, they love the Playboy bunnies, they love all those stick thin people. But, why don't we see people who aren't stick thin? Because the media doesn't like that. Media would rather keep that out of the spotlight as they think it's going to harm their ratings or ruin their reputation. Why would someone put a plus-sized person on the front page of Playboy magazine? Guys don't want that! That's a load of bullshit.

America is number one for people who are considered obese, but when you have a McDonald's on every damn corner of the country, people can't resist their salty fries and amazing chicken nuggets. We love our Dunkin' Donuts, we love our Burger King, In N' Out, Taco Bell (my one true love), Wendy's, Culver's, you name it, Americans love it. When half of the food in America is either fried or processed, do you really think everyone is going to be twig thin? Didn't think so.
This concept of 'body shaming' has been around for a long time. It's commonly seen among fitness. People are taking pictures of themselves with their arms out and comparing the after results because they felt 'disgusted' with their bodies. They then wanted to lose weight so they wouldn't be shamed or wouldn't be uncomfortable in their own skin anymore. Myself included when I go to a gym to work out, I feel like I'm being stared at when I'm lifting weights, running on the treadmill or doing the elliptical machine because I'm not ripped and shredded like some of the others I see at the gym. I'm not what you consider a 'gym junkie', I'll go when I'm feeling super motivated and want to feel a little bit better about myself and my body.
There's always going to be that one person who has an issue with other people's appearances and feels the need to make a comment about it when it's actually none of their business. It's not just people who are overweight that are being shamed, it's those who are rather skinny for their height and age and whatnot. Some are told to 'get some meat on those bones', or 'go eat a burger'...both of those are examples of body shaming. They're making fun of someone else's appearance. A study shown on bullyingstatistics.org shows that 94% of women and 84% of men experience body-shaming throughout their life.
Dr. Jenny Cole, who's a lecturer in Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan decided to explain to UNILAD about body shaming saying, "Body shaming is extremely complex, with different kinds of body shaming for different reasons and there's very little on why people body shame overall...Secondly, it's ineffective! Body shaming leads to poor body image, which leads to poorer health behaviors."
I always have hated social media in the aspect that people are so cruel there and feel they can say whatever they want. Kim Kardashian posts a picture showing her ass? People think she's a slut and that she shouldn't do that because it's 'disgusting' and 'slutty'. Those that write vicious comments don't know what that person they are making comments about is going through. They could be seriously unhappy with themselves, yet someone feels the need to drag their mood down lower and lower. Just because you're hidden behind a keyboard doesn't make you better of a person, you're still a piece of shit for talking poorly about someone else's appearance.
All I'm saying is that we have to leave this shit behind in 2018, along with a list of other things, but I won't get into that otherwise this would become a very long article. Leave any kind of shaming behind, don't bring it with, it's not worth it, just a waste of time. You go and love yourself, be you, boo boo.
