16 Good Things That Happened To Me In 2016
Happy

To be completely honest this year totally sucked for a lot of people and even our country, but not all was bad.

So here are 16 good things that happened to me in 2016 that I am sure some people can also relate to:

  1. I went to NYC for the first time and saw my first Broadway show (it was breathtaking)
  2. I sent in my deposit to UMass
  3. I fostered a litter of kittens and their mom for a full eight weeks
  4. I went to prom alone and had a super great time
  5. I graduated from high school with a 4.0 GPA
  6. I scored a 5 on my AP Calculus exam and entered college with 12 transfer credits
  7. I had an amazing summer with some amazing people
  8. I saw my favorite artist, G-Eazy, in concert
  9. I successfully left home with only a few tears shed
  10. I met some of my best friends during recruitment
  11. I got a bid from the sorority I felt most at home in, Chi Omega
  12. I got the best big ever, and big/little reveal was super exciting
  13. I survived my first Halloweekend at UMass
  14. I had my first interview with a legitimate company for an internship
  15. I got hired for an amazing on campus position that I am super excited about
  16. I successfully survived my first semester of college and now get to relax at home.

I hope everyone is able to overlook the bad things that happened in 2016 and instead look back at all the good memories that were made. Happy New Year!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
