Everyone sees the amazing recipes that Tasty puts on Facebook. I’m always down for a new recipe and I thought I’d take a shot at the wine spaghetti. Because when you combine wine and pasta your bound to get something amazing right?

In case you’re wondering her is the recipe.

4 cups water

1 bottle full bodied red wine (they suggested Cabernet)

1 pound spaghetti

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

2 tablespoons butter

1 cup freshly grated parmesan

½ cup flat leaf Italian parsley

What to do

1. Measure ¼ cup of the wine and set aside

2. Combine the water and the remainder of the bottle of wine (about 3 cups) in a large pot and bring to a boil.

3. Once boiling, add spaghetti and cook (stirring frequently) until al-dente, about 7 minutes.

4. Reserve ¼ cup of the cooking liquid and drain the spaghetti. Set aside.

5. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil on medium heat. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. Add the reserve cooking liquid and ¼ cup of reserved wine to the skillet and bring to a simmer. Add the pasta and toss to coat with the sauce.

7. Add the butter and stir until it melts into the pasta.

8. Add salt and pepper, Parmesan, add parsley and stir to combine.

9. Serve on it’s on or top with more Parmesan and parsley and open up another bottle of wine!

While, I thought that the recipe was a hit I did find some things that I would change. I made this around 11AM so I decided to make a second batch for lunch. I used less pasta but followed the recipe. One thing that I found with this was the flavor had 10 times the punch!! It was also saucier. I also forgot about the butter and added the pasta first. BOTH times!! But it they both still came out perfect! I would definitely make this dish again one thing that I would change would be to use less pasta! One package made way too much. I would also up the wine a little more. Both for boiling and for the sauce.

Here is the final product. Some people think though it looked like worms when I posted it on my social media. If you try it share your pictures with me on Instagram and Twitter. @heyitssonya and @heyitssonya01 respectively.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
