It is time to buy presents. It is hard to choose the perfect gift. There are too many options, too many prices, too many stores, too many decisions. I have worked in a perfume store for many years. I have seen many people buying a perfume for their mothers, fathers, siblings, aunts, uncles, bosses, partners, coworkers, kids' teachers, friends, acquaintance, or in-laws.
Perfumes are good presents because an aroma can be part of our memories as images or sounds. Perfumes can be worn anytime and anywhere. An aroma can say a lot about a person as well as makeup, clothes, and jewelry. And let me tell you, people love perfumes.
I want to share all my knowledge about perfumes to help you to get the perfect perfume as a gift.
1. Perfume or Eau de toilette.

Many people have made me this question. The difference between perfume and Eau de toilette is the levels of chemical composition. Perfumes are more oil concentrated. On the other hand, Eau de toilettes have more alcohol. This means perfumes are more expensive.
It is important to understand that if a product has both versions (perfume and Eau de toilette) both are going to smell the same because they have the same aroma. The difference will be the time the person wears the perfumes. In theory, a person is going to have perfume's aroma more time than Eau toilette.
I must say that there is not a big difference; you can buy either of them. Actually, there are some brands that they only have Eau de toilette. Most of the male perfumes are Eau de toilet. My point is both are good options; buy the option you like the most.
2. The brand is not everything.
Many people think the brand and the price of a perfume says how good the aroma is. It is not true. There are amazing perfumes which are affordable, and great perfumes which are horrible. Let your smell to decide what it is the perfume you want to buy.
3. Colors are a the clue.

Perfumes have colors, and it is not a coincidence. The color of a perfume can tell you what type of smell it has. For example, blue means the perfume is fresh and clean; pink is for sweet perfumes; yellow and brown are for strong perfumes.
4. Gift sets.

Gift sets are the perfume plus some more items, such as body cream, shower gel, aftershave, deodorant, travel size, or small bottle. Check the price of the gift set. Sometimes they are only five or ten dollars or even the same price than the bottle by itself. They are great presents. Even if the person does not like to use these accessories, gift sets are big and beautiful boxes which upgrade the present.
5. Smell coffee.

Probably you realize all the perfume stores have small containers with coffee beans. There is a reason. Coffee helps to refresh the smell. After you try two or three perfumes, you need to smell some coffee in order to refresh your nose; then, you can appreciate the perfumes better.
6. Soft perfumes when you don’t know.

You want to buy a perfume, but you don't know well the person; my recommendation is to buy a soft perfume. You don't go wrong with a soft perfume because it will be perfect for people who don't like strong aromas and for who like strong ones. It is to be a kind of neutral. For example, if you are buying some clothes, you go with a white or black piece because it works for everybody.
7. Don’t buy your parents’ perfumes for romantic reasons.

If you are buying a perfume for your partner, never buy the same aroma than your parents. It is weird that you love or sexual partner smells like your father or mother. Remember our memory is connected with the smells. Your love ones must have their own aromas.
8. Take a picture.
If you know your loved one is picky; the best you can do is to take a picture of the perfume this person wants. Of course, you can take note of the name of the perfume, but the same perfume can have two or three versions (for example, intense, black, ultimate, VIP, summer, etc).
9. For small budgets.
When you don't have the budget to buy the perfume, I can suggest you buy the splash, the body cream or the power of the perfume. The splash, the body cream, and the power can work as well as the perfume does, and they are more affordable. Another tip is, these variations of the perfumes are usually available online. Miniatures are another good option. They are cute, and they look beautiful.
10. Busy days.

If you don't know what you want to buy, please, don't go to the store a busy day (for example, the days before Christmas, Black Friday, Valentine Day or Mother's Day). You need time. These days perfume stores are full, and the seller is too busy to show you all the products they want. The year has 365 days; I just asked you to not go five of these days.
11. The skin can change everything.
The same perfume can smell completely different in two people. Our skins can change the aroma because we have our own chemicals which are going to work with the perfume's own composition. The point is maybe there is a perfume you like how it smells on a person, and it is totally different for another person. I am the best example; I can change the aroma in crazy ways. I can make a pretty perfume to smell like toothpaste or grass.
