7 Reasons Why You Should Love Amy Schumer

“I just say what I think is the funniest thing I could say. I’m not trying to make headlines. I’m just trying to say the stuff that I think is funny and will make people laugh.”

7 Reasons Why You Should Love Amy Schumer

The name Amy Schumer has been in the news a lot recently. She is comedic, doesn't have a filter, and always says what is on her mind. She is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and has a great wit. I love her, and I think you should, too.

1. She keeps it real

Amy is unapologetically funny. She talks about anything from sex to body image and doesn't hold back. Being honest and raw makes her the comedian she is. She speaks her mind even if it has to be censored.

“My comedy is unapologetic and fearless. Like, sometimes you’ll wind up having condomless sex with someone that you probably shouldn’t. I’m interested in sharing that part of myself unapologetically so that other people will hopefully feel better.”

2. She is hilarious

Inside Amy Schumer always produces a laugh. She recently had an interview with Jimmy Fallon and told him about the time she sexted Katie Couric's husband. Jimmy Fallon was laughing so hard he could not breathe. She keeps the laughs coming on and off the stage.

“I went home with this French guy because he said something adorable like, ‘I have an apartment.'”

3. She is bold

She is a proud feminist and brings attention to what is wrong with society. She has made two videos on being a covergirl and makeup which take a comedic spin on real issues. While doing it in a funny way, she brings attention to important issues and double standards within society. Amy is not afraid to speak up for what is wrong and put her opinions and voice out there.

“I am a woman with thoughts and questions and shit to say."

4. She is smart

She has her own show on Comedy Central titled Inside Amy Schumer, in which she stars, creates, writes and is the executive producer. Trainwreck made a whooping 30 million opening weekend, which she wrote and starred in. She knows her comedy and how to write it. This makes her so successful.

"Ooh, I like Tom's sweater. Does he teach computer in a church basement?"

5. She is confident

She is an icon in the media for young girls and teens. Amy does not aspire to be stick thin or be photoshopped into someone she is not. She is a real, strong woman who loves herself. She has body positivity which shows through her comedy and makes her a mogul and a voice for the needed change in society.

“I feel very comfortable in my own skin. When someone makes jokes about me being heavy, it makes me mad. It’s not true. I’m right where I should be.”

6. She cares about current events

Amy Schumer sheds a tear after talking about the shooting that occurred.

After a recent shooting took place at the viewing of one of her movies, she spoke out about gun control. She said she wants to push for stronger gun laws and more funding for mental illness. As soon as the shooting happened, Amy was quick to act and make sure people knew how she felt on the subject.

"The fact that this happened – you want to act. I wanted to go down there and do whatever I could, this was in the works. I am so happy he invited me to be a part of it,"

7. She can make fun of herself

Being a celebrity, she is always subject to the millions of paparazzi. In this screen cap, she is referring to how she grabbed a pastry before working out but took a funny spin on it. Instead of being enraged, she just rolled it off her shoulders and made a joke out of herself. She shows it is okay for people to be okay with who they are and make fun of themselves.

“I will speak and share and f*ck and love and I will never apologize to the frightened millions who resent that they never had it in them to do it. I stand here and I am amazing, for you. Not because of you. I am not who I sleep with. I am not my weight. I am not my mother. I am myself. And I am all of you, and I thank you.”

Amy Schumer is someone to watch; she is funny and original. With her fame, she is a voice that can make many changes to our current broken society. I am excited to see what she will do and have some laughs along the ride. All hail Queen Amy 👑

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
