Most kids dream of becoming an astronaut or a ballerina.
I just wanted to make money.
My grandmother thought it was hilarious that 6-year-old me had a business and contingency plan but, money meant that we could afford to do all the things we wanted to do. The more women I meet, the more I realize that I wasn't alone. Women of all ages will share their aspirations with me and I can't help but feel inspired and want to motivate them to pursue their dreams fervently. We, as women, should work to motivate each other towards success, in whatever shape that may be. We must also teach young girls to continue that empowerment train so that we can effectively run the world.
1. Master the art of communication.
Clem Onojeghuo
Communication is key to understanding more about success. You will need to learn when to speak and when to listen and how to understand non-verbal cues. Most importantly, you will need to understand the importance of feedback from your customers, mentors or bosses. Feedback is a powerful tool that, when perceived wisely, can help you propel yourself in the direction of growth.
2. Networking is key.
Daria Shevstosa
I'm sure you've heard, 'It's not what you know but who you know.' As cliché as it may sound, that has some truth to it. Finding people in your field or related fields will help you understand more about your career and will help you find better mentors or mentees. It may also help you find your next boss, investor or client.
3. Stay confident and passionate
Mike Wilson
Be prepared to fail. Be proactive about failure and remember that even the best have had their downfalls. This confidence translates and can be sourced by genuine passion. Others are receptive of your passion and you will draw success to you.
4. Get to know your target market.
Joe Yates
Understanding who your target audience is will help you tailor your product and approach. Getting feedback from your customers will only help your business grow. Remember that feedback, positive or negative, is an incredible gift.
5. Work hard.
Thought Catalog
You have to want success to achieve it. You have to work hard for it. It may cost some sacrifice but If you don't want success more than you want to do anything else, you won't dedicate the time or energy necessary for it and that's pivotal.
Success is about more than just the money. Success is about more than a degree or a title. It's about the impact you can make on this world. Success also looks different for everyone. World domination may not be your vision but even taking a small step towards your goals is a great victory no matter the direction you step in. Set aside your differences, sign up for one class, pursue your Master's Degree and travel the world. Remember that nothing is impossible.
I'm still walking in the direction that 6-year-old me outlined while she told stories over the kitchen table to her grandmother. She's got a pretty good plan.
