Have you ever tasted something so delicious you just wish you could eat it every day of your life? Well for me that is Burton's Custom Creamery in Fayetteville. What is Burton's my non Arkansas friends may ask? Well Burton's is a special food truck in Fayetteville, located on the iconic Dickson street, serving up delicious ice cream that many describe as the perfect mix between soft serve and frozen custard.
All the ice cream is always served in waffle cones, which are great and they only have vanilla and chocolate ice cream. But don't worry it doesn't stop there. What makes Burton's so special is all the awesome signature cones, with equally awesome names, they have to offer. My personal favorite and my usual order when I go is the 'Snap Crackle', it is vanilla ice cream in a waffle cone which is rolled in rice krispies then drizzled in marshmallow cream. It literally tastes like you are eating an ice cream rice krispie treat, which is a delicious as it sounds.
But wait there are more delicious flavors I need to tell you about. The Salty Dog is a Burton's Classic. Again it is vanilla ice cream in a waffle cone, which is then drizzled in salted caramel sauce then rolled in crushed up pretzels. If you are feeling salty then this is totally the cone for you. This cone is so special it is even on the Burton's t-shirt. Another one of my go to's is the Elton John, which is strawberry sauce and fruit loops on top of a vanilla ice cream cone. And this gem pictured below is called a CINNAMONSTER. It is vanilla ice cream with salted caramel sauce and crushed up cinnamon toast crunch cereal. It truly gives you a monster of a sugar rush.
If you couldn't tell thus far ice cream should be one of my love languages. Anytime I have ice cream in my hand I am happier than any one person should be. The first time I tried Burton's I thought I was going to die with happy. There is just something about going to Burton's late at night with my friends, sitting around eating ice cream, and chatting about our days that puts a big smile on my face.
Oh and did I mention they have a signature cone created by THE Ben Rector. Yes you read that right, Ben Rector the singer. His cone of creation is vanilla ice cream drizzled in fudge sauce, sprinkled with sea salt and rolled in crushed Oreos. Now I am not a big fan of chocolate, but this cone sounds pretty delicious to me. Plus it was made by Ben Rector so that makes it a bit better haha.
If you haven't been to Burton's yet I definitely recommend it. Check them out here for their full menu and more pics of all the delicious cones... www.burtonscreamery.com. If you have, I hope you love it as much as I do and have your own 'usual'. Burton's is truly my 'Arkansas Bae' of ice cream. If it could help me get through my freshman year of college, then I know it will get me through the rest of my time at Arkansas. I love you Burton's, please stay just the delicious way you are.
So until August when I am back in Fay to have some Burton's with my pals, I will dream of my usual, Snap Crackle, and instead fill myself with what any Austinite knows best Amy's ice cream.
