Buried At Ben's

Everyone has skeletons in the closet, but most people don't mean it literally.

Everyone knows Benjamin Franklin as that old guy who tied a key to a kite and boom, light bulb. Ben Franklin is one of the fathers of science as we know it because his discovery led us to be the spoiled humans that we are today who can't live without air conditioner for more than a day. But there is a side to Mr. Franklin that nobody ever knew about (maybe).

I never knew about this, and I really don't think that the media shed much light on it. According to Smithsonian Magazine, Ben Franklin's home in London was undergoing restoration in 1998 when at least 1,200 pieces of bone were found. The bones belonged to at least 15 different people and a few animals. Many believe that Ben Franklin had nothing to do with the bones or the killing of the people under the house. Some experts say the bones could be attributed to Franklin's friend who was very interested in anatomy. Although the activity was illegal, it was so long ago that nothing can be done. Many of the bones were taken for further archaeological study. Regardless, the bones date back to a time when Benjamin Franklin was still residing in the home.

Others, however, believe he had a lot to do with the bones. He was a very established member of the Freemasons. This group has been the center of many conspiracy theories over the years, some of which are very haunting. Many of the people who believe in these conspiracies believe that Benjamin Franklin had something to do with these deaths as some sort of sacrifice for his religion.

Perhaps we will never know if Ben Franklin had anything to do with the bodies under his house. Even if he was innocent and had nothing to do with the killings, it's still a frightening scenario to picture living on top of more than a dozen dead bodies. To think, all this time I thought learning about Ben Franklin was boring.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
