What's better than feeling the softest creature ever snuggled close to your chest, quietly grinding its teeth?
NOTHING, that's what.
This past September, I got my pet bunny named Thumper and I couldn't be happier. I had been contemplating getting a bunny for a little while, and thankfully when my boyfriend Tanner came in town he convinced me to go for it!
I am so glad I did.
I got him when he was still a baby so he was so small!
Taking care of this tiny animal has been so worth my time and effort. His wide brown eyes and constant wiggly nose make me smile every time I enter my apartment and see him sprawled out in his cage. Although bunnies are unlike dogs in their greetings and don't bark while jumping up on you, they still make it known they are happy to see you.
My little guy perks his ears up when I walk in and sometimes jumps down from his ledge in his cage telling me he wants to be cuddled.
I have anxiety/depression and have found the unconditional love of Thumper to be very beneficial to my mental health. I live in an apartment with one roommate whose schedule is opposite of mine, meaning I am home alone quite frequently. Ever since I got Thumper, the afternoons and nights when I am alone haven't been quite as lonely.
Bunnies, especially dwarf rabbits like Thumper make amazing emotional support animals. I highly recommend getting a bunny if you are looking for an easy pet to take care of that is full of unconditional love. Watching him grow has been a joy and he really is my baby.
I am a dog lover myself, but I definitely couldn't handle taking care of a dog in college because it's a much bigger responsibility. Bottom line, bunnies make amazing pets and are the sweetest animals. Go to a pet store to hold one and see what you think! It just might be something beneficial for you too!
Bunny love is the best love.
