For those of you who do not know, a bullet journal is a customizable journal used to try to better organize one's life. Essentially, blank slates just waiting to be made into something wonderful. I have seen many bullet journals and always been intrigued by the idea, but thought it would be too time consuming. I was wrong.

Last year, I watched two friends working on their beautiful bullet journals, and it inspired me to give it a try. I envied the creative time they were putting into these journals that they then used as planners.

Tossing my fear aside, I began looking for a bullet journal. The options were overwhelming. I ended up selecting a simple journal with an elephant engraved on the cover. Simple but elegant. Waiting for my journal to arrive is when I realized that this would be more than a creative endeavor. I had just found a way to de-stress this summer.

Some people journal as they go, but I decided to set up my journal this summer so that I can use it as a planner once school starts. Pinterest became my friend, and the endless ideas and possibilities no longer overwhelmed me, but excited me.

Finishing my first weekly layout felt amazing. I felt accomplished that I had created something beautiful yet practical. I have been working on a page or two a day and am still loving every moment of it. I take my time, and if I am not feeling inspired, I wait until another day.

The extra pages allow for even more creativity. From scheduling and cleaning to movies to watch, the extra pages can be anything. These pages have been challenging but also some of the most fun pages to create.

Getting to be creative has truly made me happy. I have the freedom to design this journal however I want. From layout to color, power is at my fingertips.

Bullet journaling is not for everybody, but for me it changed my life for the better. I cannot wait to keep working on it, and I hope you will be inspired to give bullet journaling a try.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
