I know this is a “sappy, mushy” article... but it’s something that’s been on my chest a lot. I haven’t written about it bwcahse I was scared about what others would think about it, but I finally got over that... soooo with that being said, let me know what you think and enjoy!
Being a young woman that believes in God in today’s time is so trying but it’s even harder to have a relationship that’s built on prayer.
In Mark 10:9, Jesus says “What God has joined together, let no man separate.”
I always talk about how far away marriage is for me and how it’s so not for me any time soon but, honestly, the one thing I pray about the most is my future husband. I have no idea who it is. I have no idea when I’ll meet him. But I pray for him and the family we’ll have. I pray to be a good wife and for my kids to be able to see God through me.
I spend a lot of my prayer time praying over my current relationship. A relationship built on prayer has such a strong foundation that it’s hard to shift. I pray that God leads me in the right directions when it comes to a new relationship. I need to know if the person I like is going to be a gentleman. Will he respect my beliefs? Will he support me? .... most importantly..... Does he love God, too?
One of the best verses I know to describe the reason why I spend so much time on this subject is from Proverbs 4:23. It says “Above all else, guard your heart because everything you do flows from it.”
If your heart is set on God, you will find the right person for you. You can’t only rely on your heart to know how you feel about someone because let’s be honest... sometimes we don’t know what we want. Our hearts can be deceiving. But not God. He answers prayers, maybe not as fast as we’d like, but eventually.
If you pray for your relationship, everything else will fall into place. That doesn’t mean everything’s going to be easy peasy lemon squeezy. It just means that God is going to be in your relationship to make tough times easier. He’s going to be the rock you BOTH lean on when neither of you knows what to do.
I hope that there are a few girls, and guys, out there that will appreciate this article. I know that being a Christian, in college, in your 20s, in general.. is hard sometimes but, you’re not the only one and there are others out here praying for you and going through the same things!
