11 Things To Put On Your Summer Bucket List

With school ending and warmer weather coming, summer is just around the corner! Summer is a time to de-stress, hangout with friends, and bask in the sun, so why not make the most of it? Here is a list of things that will make this summer the best one yet.

1. Go to the beach.

Whether you live five minutes from the beach or five hours, everyone should spend some time sitting on the beach this summer. If you live in a beach town, try to hit up as many local beaches as possible before summer ends!

2. Road trip.

Go somewhere you've always wanted to go, visit some friends in other states, or just get in your car and drive. Summer is a time for seeing new places and exploring the unknown.

3. Hiking.

There's only a few months of glorious sunshine, what better way to enjoy it than spending time outside?! Look into some hiking trails by you and get a good workout as well as some great pictures.

4. Concerts.

I already have my summer concert tickets lined up and I couldn't be more excited! Outside venues are especially a blast. Something about summer nights and concerts just go together.

5. DIY projects.

Sometimes summer isn't all fun in the sun, but that's what DIY projects are for! Fill up your Pinterest boards and craft some things for your dorm and friends and family! Rainy days are best spent doing arts and crafts.

6. Night swimming.

Night swimming is a classic summer tradition that everyone needs to cross off their summer bucket list.

7.Watch the sun rise/ set.

Sunsets are not that difficult, but sunrises are a little bit more tricky. The sun rises and sets every day and it's truly a beautiful sight, so stop missing so many of them! Wake up early a few days and take in all nature has to offer.

8. Host/ attend a BBQ.

Nothing says summer like a good BBQ! Hot dogs and burgers are a perfect way to spend a summer night.

9. Go to a fair.

When the Fair comes to town in the summer it is the best. See where the closest one is to you, grab your friends, and hop on some rides!

10. Read.

Now that school is over there is plenty of time to read books you actually want to read! Nothing is better than sitting on the beach with a good book.

11. Adventure.

Summer is a time for adventure. Get out there, go outside your comfort zone. do the things you've always wanted to do. Relax, soak up the sun, and have a good time because it'll be over before you know it!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever.
