The Milky, Delicious, Yummy Bubble Tea is Bad for Your Health.

On a scale of 1-10, how much do we actually care?

Bubble tea, the satisfyingly delicious tea-based drink from Taiwan, has recently been called out by multiple food publications (here, here, and here) for being unhealthy due to the immense amount of sugar in the drink. The main culprit? The starchy tapioca, or the black boba balls, which are boiled in what is essentially sugar water for that chewy texture that we all look forward to with every sip.

With the rising popularity of bubble tea (which can be made with milk or fruit, both are super yum) in major cities like New York and Los Angeles, it's a drink that can't be ignored with the varies types of teas that can be used to create it. Honestly, it's so popular that even a beauty product was created in it's image. Sure, the calorie count is pretty high up there with the mixture of milk, sugar, and other deliciousness that can be added like red bean, grass jelly, and egg custard, but nowadays it's possible to customize the level of sugar and even ice in your bubble tea.

I mean, I'm guilty of having a bubble tea once a week (or twice), but in a way, it's like grabbing a cup of coffee (I mean, the caffeine is no joke). So yes, bubble tea should be consumed in moderation just like every other thing that's bad for us, like ice cream, ramen, candy, and Hot Cheetos Fries (well, there goes my summer diet list. But it's also important to treat yourself (insert Aziz Ansari gif) and make the most out of all the yum eateries out there in the world.

So here's a list of my favorite bubble tea places ever: Kung Fu Tea, Coco Bubble Tea, and Boba Guys. P.S.: These are pretty big chains, I recommend actually going to the motherland (Taiwan) to try some local favorites. I mean hey, that's a good enough reason to add a country on your travel list, right?

Basically what I'm trying to say is 1. Drink your bubble tea, 2. Go travel to Taiwan, and 3. Who cares about the calories count? In the words of Drake (who did not create this phrase by the way), "YOLO".

Wow, how 2012 was that?

Cheers.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
