The seven member Korean pop band, BTS, has been the talk of the town in regards to the pop culture music scene. The year of 2018 was definitely a successful one for the idol group; performing their hit single DNA at the American Music Awards, United Nations speech and winning multiple accolades during award season. To top it off the group member, Jimin, made sure the year ended on a melodic note...literally. The acoustic guitar guided track called "Promise" was released through Soundcloud and announced on BTS' official Twitter page December 30th. The groups supporting fans, which are called Army, went into a frenzy displaying their love for the song through retweets and hashtags.

Jimin's first "non-album solo single" was a collective masterpiece, BTS' label producer Slow Rabbit aided in its production and the cover photo was taken by Jimin's band-mate V. It was also written by Jimin himself along with his band member RM; giving it a more personal touch. And let's be real what fan does not want to hear their favorite musical artist sing to them with lyrics they wrote. He even included the words "first jimin present" in the URL link. How adorable!

His airy and angelic voice makes you feel like your daydreaming on a pair of clouds or taking a walk on the beach on a windy afternoon. The lyrics alone set a beautiful melancholic mood.

"I`m alright, though I say so maybe the truth is that I`m not. I want you to be your light, baby. You should be your light. So that you are not hurt anymore. So that you can smile."

Sometimes in relationships or even whilst not being in one, hiding your feelings seems better than actually addressing that they are there. The happiness of someone you care for is what matters even when you aren't feeling okay.

"Promise me now, even if you feel alone many times a day, don't throw away yourself. Pause for a moment right here, hook your pinky with mine, and promise me now."

Jimin's ending lyrics wants listeners to love themselves through the difficult times and have hope for another day. The message fits perfectly with BTS' "Love Yourself" campaign which promotes self-love and self appreciation.

Jimin was very proud and humble to share his new single. "Did you wait a long time?" he tweeted in Korean. "I finally made a public composition of my own song. This song is for me but it is also for you. It's the first time and it is still premature. Thank you Army, please listen a lot."

Army`s were not the only ones who listened and enjoyed Jimin's solo track. Jimmy Fallon, a BTS fan and friend of Jimin tweeted in support, Jimin matched his enthusiasm with a thankful reply.

Jimin's band-mate and collab partner on the single, Namjoon also known as RM, congratulated him on a popular Korean forum called Fancafe where many Korean idols and agencies post photos, music updates, etc. Due to the language barrier it is hard for non-Korean language speaking fans to understand when trying to sign up for the website. Luckily, international fans are able to understand through Korean speaking fans who post the English translated versions on twitter, talk about a close knit fan base!

BTS crushed it in 2018, there really is no telling what they have in store for the new year but so far 2019 is looking very promising.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
