It's not very often I am drawn to the personal life of a mainstream musician. As deep as I dive for music, and despite how much it encompasses everything in my life, I usually try to stay away from finding out too much about them personally. It allows me to interpret the music the way I want and not become biased. However, while I was strolling through the internet this week, I came upon a short video on Facebook by happenstance.

"We had it all ya' know? We had each other. And it never felt like it was the end of the world, Sorry we don't got electric today. Its alright, its temporary, we're gonna figure this out"

It's not just Bruno's words that hit me in the gut; artists have stories like this all the time -- it's common place. It's the look on his face. He doesn't look at his childhood with resentment, remorse or look to be pitied. He looks at his life with joy and happiness. Maybe his parents couldn't give him the world, but they taught him the one thing I strive to teach my own daughter: Love and Family and just having each other. That is the most important thing in the world.

I have gained a lot of respect for Bruno Mars, because he embodies so many positive qualities I wish the younger generation of today to posses. In the world as it is today, being able to appreciate, love, and stay positive is so very important.

While children are pitching fits over iPhones, and game consoles, Bruno's over here counting his blessings everyday and telling his family he loves them. We need more Bruno in our lives, we need more love and happiness in our lives.

So here are some facts about Bruno Mars to get you through your Monday.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
