Sometimes, being the eldest sibling is the toughest. While I'm sure the middle and youngest siblings have their own struggles to deal with, there are some things that only eldest siblings understand. So if you're the eldest (and best) sibling in your family, here are 11 statements you can relate to.
1. Being the guinea pig.
What am I? A test run?
2. Being free labor.
Are the parents going out for the night? Bam, you’re a babysitter. Does your sister need help writing an essay? Now you’re an English tutor.
3. They get away with so much more than you ever did.
They get to stay up way later on a school night. Not fair!
4. Always having to be on your best behavior.
Because apparently they look up to you.
5. So that means you have to keep your stories PG.
But honestly, life has no rating so what’s the point?
6. Being blamed for things that were obviously not your fault.
It was because either “you’re older” or “they’re too young to understand.”
7. Nothing drove you crazier than your sibling copying your every move.
I know that imitation is the highest form of flattery, but come on, do you have to buy the same clothes as me or cut your hair the same exact way?
8. Or when they tried to hang with your squad.
It was even worse when your friends egged the situation on by calling your sibling “cute” or “adorable.”
9. Always being able to pull the “I’m older” card.
For some reason, this always validated anything you did.
10. You’re their own personal bodyguard.
No one else is allowed to pick on them or beat them except for you.
