Fathers are put in every little girl's life to watch and help them grow. Some of us are fortunate enough to have that luxury, while others are not so lucky.
Growing up, I always thought that just because I had a dad who wasn't always around meant that I was missing something. It took me many years to finally realize that I was so blessed to have the family that I do. Instead of having a full-time father, I had a grandfather (Poppa) who taught me things like how to swim, the importance of classic music, and most importantly, how to always believe in myself. I also have an aunt who taught me how to be strong and independent and to never let anyone or anything come in between me and my beliefs.
But above all, I have a step-father. A step-father that makes sure that I never have to go without and assures me that there is never a day that he feels like I am anything but his own.
So, if you're going through life without a mother or a father, take a step back and appreciate what you do have. Take the time to thank them for everything that they do.
