As the school year winds down, hoards of college students will be packing up their apartments and dorm rooms to head back to their hometowns. With all the extra time that summer affords college students, brings the marvelous opportunity to make a little extra money for the upcoming semester. However, this task isn't always as easy as it seems.
For instance,
1. When you keep getting emails about on-campus summer job opportunities.
But you've already made up your mind and told your mom that you were coming home. It's like they're teasing you. It's twisted.
2. Honestly, any job is a good job at this point...
because beggars can't be choosers and I've never been more broke. Despite the fact I've never taken a dance class in my life, yes I will apply for the summer assistant dance teacher position because why not?
3. Having your friend read your cover letter.
.......thoughts
4. Obsessively checking your phone for a call or email response and answering unknown numbers with cheer.
When money calls, I answer.
5. Finally getting an interview! But also being extremely uncomfortable talking about yourself.
Like, how do you get across that you really need this job without saying the words "Yo, I really need this job" ???
6. "So what kind of skills do you think you can bring to this office?"
Whatever skills are in the job description, count me in.
7. Calling your mom as soon as you exit the interview!
Because whether you get the job or not, you know she has to love you
8. Trying to get ahold of the manager after not hearing back within exactly one week after the interview.
Because are we doing this or not?
Happy job hunting friends. May the odds be ever in your favor.
