Ever since I was little, I have had a love and appreciation for Broadway show tunes and pretty much any other musical's music. I don’t know if it is the story behind the song or the amazing dancing I have always admired that gets me, but it just does.

If you are someone like me, you would agree that there are too many songs to name that are a must in your next playlist, but I am going to narrow it down to just the top 5 albums you should include.

1. The Greatest Showman

When we are living in a time where the circus is no longer coming to town, at least we have this show to remember P.T. Barnum and the circus. Whether you are listening to “The Greatest Show” with its upbeat and motivating tone, or “A Million Dreams,” a song that is slower yet inspiring, you will be hooked. You’ll be dreaming with your eyes wide open while listening to this playlist and is a perfect album to accompany a workout, or even a study session.

2. Dear Evan Hansen

If the box office ticket price doesn’t already describe the popularity of this show, maybe the music will. A story depicting how a teenager who suffers with social anxiety deals with his day to day life “waving through a window” will definitely bring the audience to tears. The music in this show such as “You Will be Found” will give you the chills and will eventually become addicting.

3. Mamma Mia

Oh, a classic. How can you resist this music? Have a dream and dance along to Sophie, Donna, Sam, Harry and Bill as they try to uncover the past. Will Sophie end up finding out who her true father is? Get this music playing soon because part 2 comes this summer!

4. Hairspray

You could go for the Broadway album or the movie for this one. The Broadway version has a few extra songs, but the movie has Zac Efron, so that choice is up to you. Tracy Turnblad’s story is much more than trying to get her spot in the Corny Collins Show and is more about the 1960’s and the eventual integration on TV. This musical does not get corny at all and you definitely won’t be able to stop the beat.

5. Hamilton

Have a history test tomorrow on the beginnings of our nation and have no idea what to study? Turn on Hamilton’s soundtrack to give you a little insight on this era. Even though Hamilton describes himself as young scrappy and hungry like his country is, the impact he made is pretty great. Hey! The hype for this show is so great that they couldn’t even take Hamilton off of the $10 bill! Give it your shot and enter the room where it happens.

By downloading just these 5 albums, maybe you will gain an appreciation for Broadway and musicals like I have. There are definitely more albums you can tune into, but at least here is a start!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
