Animal and Broadway lovers from around the world come together every summer at Shubert Alley benefiting the animal shelters of New York City. In 2017, Broadway Barks will be getting ready for their 19th edition, as Broadway performers present dogs and cats that need a loving home.
Founded by broadway living legend Bernadette Peters, and the wonderful Mary Tyler Moore, the organization is funded by Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS. "Funds raised from a raffle, silent auction, signed memorabilia sales, and donations are distributed to the participating shelters and rescue groups." (Broadway Barks)
Stars from current and past shows such as "Hamilton," "Wicked," "Something Rotten," "The Addams Family," "Fidler on the Roof," "Chicago," "An American in Paris," "Waitress," "The Phantom of the Opera," "On your Feet!," "The Humans," "Fully Committed," "An Act of God," etc. have helped with the previous event that occurred July 30, 2016.
In other news, Broadway Barks and Main Line Animal Rescue have joined forces with Braille Tails which provides print braille books about companion animals to schools and other institutions in the United States!
