Last November, millions were astonished with the turnout results of the 2016 Presidential Election, electing Donald J. Trump as the next 45th President of the United States. Clinton supporters were devastated; months later and the election still has an everlasting affect on the people of our country. Protests have erupted from coast to coast, in downtown areas, college campuses, etc. Trump has been known for encouraging hate and violence in certain groups. Trump has impersonated a disabled reporter, have several sexual assault lawsuits against him, and started a hate movement against our 44th President that questioned his citizenship.
Many have thought this was Hillary's election, she would be our next president but we were wrong and we have to accept that. We have to accept that Donald J. Trump is our President. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you have to agree with everything that he will do as president, stand up to what is going on. If you are against something going on in D.C., do something about it. The people have more power than you think.
When Martin Luther King Jr. marched through the streets for the rights of black people, he didn't burn flags, bust windows to Starbucks, or assault anyone on the street. He just marched, he spoke out, he went into communities, none of the actions that is going on right now. We all stood up against Trump when he was bringing out that violence and hate in people, but also in himself but we CANNOT stoop down to his level. Hypocrisy, violence, and hate are such horrible traits. Republicans have had such a bad rep in Washington, but the Democrats and Libertarians are doing no better these days with their actions. It's our American right to protest, Freedom of Speech and Assembly, but throwing punches, committing arson, and harassing people with different views are crimes and will not be allowed. So before any of you go out to the streets with your issues, take a few moments to reflect on yourselves and ask yourself "Is this worth it?".
