Writer’s Block.
Those two words are dreaded by anyone whether it comes to writing an essay or a creative work.
Whether it’s the moment you need to formulate a thesis or a deadline for an article submission is being anticipated, the sudden onset of writer’s block is incredibly frustrating. In my experience, I often get upset with myself over writer’s block, internally yelling at myself over why I’m even stuck in the first place.
I try to focus on writing something else, but more often than not I end up lacking the energy to do so.
These writer’s blocks can last for days or weeks, even months on end.
In terms of essays and academia it is especially infuriating with a deadline closing in like a ticking time bomb.
On the matter of one’s own creative works, there is one silver lining to a writer’s block: the moment one is finally able to get past the writer’s block.
While that can just as easily be seen as not having writer’s block at all, I see it as the moment it finally ends. Particularly, the moment one is able to find inspiration once again and is no longer trapped in mental quicksand. The feelings come pouring out and all the ideas in mind start articulating onto the page. That is the feeling that makes having writer's block worth wild. You struggled, you came to fight, and you conquered, and that is the most wonderful feeling. Work through your writer's block and everything will fall into place.
