We all know the classic movie and novel "Bridget Jones's Diary." Bridget Jones, played by Renée Zellweger, is the character so many girls can relate to. She’s 30, single, trying to lose weight, trying to stop drinking and find love. Isn’t that what we’re all doing? In the midst of doing this, she starts hooking up with her hot boss at work, but he’s kind of d*** to her. Then we meet Colin Firth, and we all fall in love.

Colin Firth’s character is a little weird in the beginning, and we’re not quite sure what to think of him. But the more he and Bridget run into each other, the more we fall in love. My favorite scene is when he comes over and helps Bridget cook for her birthday party, and her friends all come over and have the perfect night (until Hugh Grant comes in and ruins the night). The witty and awkward movie ends with Bridget chasing after Colin Firth in just a t-shirt and her underwear and them kissing in the snow.

The reason we all connect to this movie is because Bridget Jones isn’t this perfect character. She’s a little overweight, she’s not the most attractive girl ever, but yet she finds this wonderful guy. It gives us hope.

So when I saw that there was a sequel to "Bridget Jones's Diary," "Bridget Jones’s Baby," I got super excited. I assumed it was going to be about Bridget and Colin Firth’s baby, trying to live a normal life, even though she has kinda weird and awkward parents.

Wrong.

I watched the trailer for "Bridget Jones’s Baby" and was utterly devastated.

Besides the fact that Patrick Dempsey is going to be in it, this movie has already crushed my dreams. Actually, I take that back. I’m a hardcore "Grey’s Anatomy" fan and seeing Patrick Dempsey with anyone other than Meredith Grey is just a tragedy.

The trailer begins with Bridget Jones walking down the aisle in a beautiful (well, actually, I didn’t really like it that much, but that’s beside the point) white dress, with her father on her arm and a church full of smiling people. I know what you’re thinking. Aw, she’s finally getting her happily ever after with Colin Firth. Guess again.

The opening scene was just Bridget’s imagination, and we find her singing “All By Myself” again, alone, on her birthday. In the next few seconds, it’s revealed that Bridget Jones and Colin Firth’s character have broken up. Bridget Jones then meets Patrick Dempsey, who pulls her out of the mud and puts her shoe back on for her. (Really? The Cinderella thing? Really?) Bridget then finds out she’s pregnant and isn’t sure whether it’s Patrick’s baby or Colin’s baby (I really should figure out what their character names are, but it just seems rude not to call them Colin and Patrick).

While it does make sense that Bridget Jones, the stubborn and unlucky character, finds herself in yet another unfortunate turn of events, I’m really disappointed. I don’t think they should have introduced a new character -- sorry Patrick Dempsey -- into the storyline.

I’m curious to see how this movie turns out, and how other people react to it. I’m crossing my fingers that the baby is Colin Firth’s and they get back together and live happily ever after. Even Bridget Jones deserves that.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
