We Have To Breathe To Live

"So, take time to laugh, take time to love, and take time to live."

We Have To Breathe To Live
Merrick Alexander

So, I am sure I am not the only one who lives a crazy busy life. We have errands to run. We have jobs, bills, school, clubs, teams, etc. that take up all of the time in our lives. Most often we tend to run around like chickens with our heads cut off, but really what good does that do for us?

I am here to tell you that we must take time to stop and breathe. We need to pause a moment and take in life for all it is. We need to learn to appreciate every moment given to us, rather than worrying about how much stuff we have to get done in those moments. Life goes by so fast, and stressing ourselves out about time makes us lose the precious moments we have. We cannot pack so much in our lives that we are not allowing ourselves to live.

A few suggestions I have are to make a list of everything you need to do, and then space out when things need to be done and allow yourself time in between to relax. We were not placed on this earth to work ourselves to death. Another tip I have is to realize what you have to get done, as opposed to what you need to get done. This should remove some stress because you will notice you have less to get done than you thought. My last tip is to learn to say 'no' to people. We are a generation of people who want to impress and make others like us, so we will volunteer and say yes to helping others when we honestly might not have the time to do so. I am not saying you should always say 'no', but it is okay to. You need to look out for your own well being, and stretching yourself too thin is definitely not good for your physical, mental, and emotional health.

Life will have times that are stressful, but that doesn't mean we cannot stop to admire the beautiful world God created for us. So, take time to laugh, take time to love, and take time to live. Remember, you can't live without taking a breath.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
