A new 'The Legend of Zelda' game is soon to arrive! I have only witnessed a few short minutes of actual game play, but the full game is to be released next year. Zelda fans can expect similar elements from a previous game in the franchise, 'Skyward Sword'. However, there are a few new features to watch out for.
1. The stamina wheel is back.
From what I can tell, no one likes this feature. I personally have not yet played through 'Skyward Sword', but I have certainly heard several complaints about it, with the stamina wheel being the top peeve. The stamina wheel is basically a wheel that appears above Link once you start to run, and depletes completely once Link becomes tired. You also must wait for the wheel to charge up before you can run again, which sucks. After watching it being used in 'Breath of the Wild', I can tell how much of a nuisance it will be, especially when there is so much open world to explore! It will also hold some part in battle; there will be lots of rage ensued by the player.
2. Completing the story line isn't required.
Normally, one must follow the path that is given to them, but not in 'Breath of the Wild'. Yes, there still is a story line, but it will not be restricted to just that. Players will have the opportunity to complete quests in whichever order they choose. If they really wanted to, players could beat the final boss in the game without even venturing near the story line, which is quite different from more recent Zelda games and is more similar to some of the original games.
3. SO MUCH SPACE.
There is an entire open world for players to explore! The title 'Breath of the Wild' is a perfect fit for the game, since there is so much wilderness to discover! It even goes as far as Link having the ability to climb random objects to get to other parts of the map, which is similar to games like 'Skyrim'. It's nice to know that climbing a mountain with no equipment is allowed. Not to mention the display is astounding.
4. No, Link is not a girl.
Hearing Link's grunts throughout the walk-through, I can confirm that he is in fact still a guy. He may look more feminine, but it wouldn't make sense in terms of the past Zelda games if he were a girl anyway. Sorry if I just crushed your hopes and dreams.
So there you have it.
'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' will definitely bring about some changes to the franchise, but overall it seems like a wonderfully made game that I, along with every other Zelda fan, cannot wait to play. There are several other features this game contains but I feel that I am not informed enough to discuss them just yet. The game will be made for the Wii U and a new console Nintendo will soon release, the Nintendo NX.
