There's always that one person who knows about a song or band way before they become super famous. Well, here's your chance to become that person. Here's a quick look at artists that will blow up the music industry this year:
The 1975
The 1975 is that band that your wannabe hipster friend is totally into. If you don't have a wannabe hipster friend, then you're at least probably familiar with their song Chocolate. This year The 1975 is coming out with a new album. They already released several singles off it such as Love Me and The Sound. Love Me has a retro 80's vibe and The Sound has a catchy alternative pop vibe, which is making fans believe that the new album will be diverse and fresh. With the combination of new music releases and a loyal fan base that keeps growing, there's no way The 1975 won't take over the alternative music scene this year.
Troye Sivan
Troye Sivan is definitely going to break into the popular music scene this year. You've probably heard a couple of his songs or seen his album cover at some point in the past few months. Troye Sivan has this very unique pop sound that resembles the elecropop genre. Everyone loves him and his song Youth. In fact, his whole album is phenominal, so he's bound to have another single with similar success as Youth. Definitely keep an eye out on him, he's becoming more and more popular by the day.
ZAYN
Not even a year ago Zayn Malik left One Direction breaking a million teenage girls' hearts. After his sudden departure and time off, he's finally back in the spotlight with his own music on the way. Now we know from his One Direction days that Zayn's got some mad pipes and insane talent, but now everyone is on the edge of their seats to see what the former boybander is going to do with his new image. He recently dropped his single Pillowtalk that got great responses and has us begging for more. He will most definitely be played on the Top 40, with loyal fans from his One Direction backing him up and new fans that are falling in love with his angelic voice and his "The Weeknd-esque" styled music.
Børns
Børns is hands down my new favorite breakout artist. You've probably have heard of his song Electric Love in the background of some commercials and maybe even on your local radio station. Well, the hype over Børns keeps getting bigger, and with him performing at some of the biggest music festivals this summer you just know he's bound to blow up. If you're into indie pop and like singers like James Bay, you are sure to fall in love with Børns.
Shawn Mendes
So Justin Bieber's target audience ins't tween girls anymore and One Direction is on a break, so who will fill the front pages of Tiger Beat? Shawn Mendes, that's who. Shawn Mendes has already been in the Top 40 with his song Stitches and collab I Know What You Did Last Summer. But this summer he's headlining his own show and will surely be becoming even bigger. By the end of the year he will most likely be the poster on every tween girls' wall. Cute teenage boy who plays guitar, how could he not blow up, right?
Bryson Tiller
I know little to nothing about R&B music, but I am starting to see Bryson Tiller everywhere. He's being recognized by big names in the R&B industry and slowly climbing up the charts. He's even been rumored to be working on a remix with Chris Brown. He is definitely going to be the next big thing in mainstream R&B.
Catfish and the Bottlemen
If you love alternative bands like Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, and The Kooks you will probably love Catfish and the Bottlemen. Their first album came out last year and got a solid amount of recognition. With their new album coming out this year, they're sure to pick up some new fans and continue to become more popular. This band may not be taking over the Top 40, but will definitely be the new alternative band everyone is obsessing over.
