This past summer I spent three weeks having only smoothies for breakfast and it completely changed the way I felt. Having a shake for breakfast was fast, refreshing and it kept me fueled until lunch, while also giving my digestive system a much easier time after making tons of shakes I like to think of myself as a smoothie connoisseur, so let me introduce you to my sweetest and cutest shake:
Ingredients:
1 cup of water
Juice of 1/2 lime
1 cup of mango in chunks (frozen if possible)
1/2 cup of raspberries (frozen if possible)
1/2 banana
Directions:
Begin by pouring the water into your blender first. This will allow for your smoothie to be creamy, not chunky, and will give your blender an easier time.
After this, add your fruits. The mango and banana add sweetness while the lime juice give it a sour kick and your raspberries add tons of antioxidants (and colors your smoothie pink!). Although they do not need to be frozen your smoothie will benefit from it. When blended, frozen fruit has a sorbet like consistency that is hard to beat. If you don't have frozen fruit it's ok! Just remember to add a bit of ice into your blender.
Garnish with fresh fruit and don't be afraid of making your own add ons. Chia seeds, protein powder, and shredded coconut would all be super yum!
This recipe makes enough for two 8 oz glasses, making it ideal to share.
