Breakfast. It is the meal that starts our day. From pancakes to oatmeal to fruit to eggs to toast, it is the meal that many people see as an essential part of our daily lives. Not only can breakfast benefit our physical health but I would argue it benefits our mental health too.
Sitting down for breakfast in the morning is a tradition that on occasion can be shared with someone or can even be used as a relaxing time to sit down with yourself before the start of your crazy day.
The breakfast tradition is not only delicious but I find that it is a way to connect. It brings people together in a beautifully delicious way. Sharing a meal is something that can spark joy in our lives. It is a way to maintain friendships and reconnect with those who you might not regularly talk with. That's the power of breakfast. It is like the bandaid for the time you were apart from someone.
When I come home from college, I spend much of my time home around a table. Sending a simple text to an old friend inviting them to breakfast can do wonders. When we sit down and take the time to eat together, it gives us time to talk and catch up about what has been going on in their lives while we were apart.
Breakfast time is a time that many people are available and don't have a lot going on in their schedule and it only takes an hour or two from your day. So maybe the next time that you start to miss an old friend and you don't know how to bridge that gap, consider breakfast. I mean really, who could say no to a plate of pancakes.
