It’s not you, it’s me. Wait no actually, it is you. I can’t say I’m sad to see you go. You were the home to many stressful situations, whether they be academic, social, emotional, or politically based. I’m not sad to see you go because it’s a time to start new. I’m starting my senior year of college. I have an internship for the spring of 2017. I’ve learned a lot more about myself with you than I ever thought possible, but I’m ready for the next chapter…without you. Yes, 2016, we had our laughs, but it’s time to move on.
I’m excited to see what 2017 has in store. It’s new, it’s exciting, and most importantly it’s not 2016. As I write this, I feel like I’m writing to an old companion whom I no longer have any connection with. This past year felt like it was that boy you date, but deep down you know it’s never really going to go anywhere. Then, once you are over you feel refreshed and ready to tackle any obstacles that come your way. That’s what 2016 was to me—an ex-boyfriend who I’m really not sad to lose.
Bye 2016, see ya never.
