Break the Mold

Be the change

Break the Mold
Erin Clemens

Our generation, the generation of millennials, are considered to be a reflection of what we want to avoid. We seek to be the change, to make a difference. We are subject to postmodernism, to falling into the "trend".

Now more than ever we need to seek out the Lord for guidance, to continue to be radically committed to HIS will and to refrain from falling into the millennial stereotype. We need to stand strong and be the light in a time of darkness, a time where our society's' vision seems to be obscured by materialism and local indoctrination. We need to think outside of the box, to think for ourselves, not to form to the mold but break the walls. We need to stand for the weak, for the quiet, for the lost, being their voice, their strength, their support.

We know that times will be tough, they won't be facile, we will be tempted and tried. Just as Jesus in the desert, he was tempted by the devil and yet he stood firm. "... Jesus answered him, "It is also written; Do not put the Lord your God to the test." (Matthew 4:7)

To be the change we want to see, we need to trust in God and allow him to lead us. To stand for our beliefs, to break the mold, beat the stereotype, be the change.

And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
