Thursday, September 15 was when Brad Paisley held a free concert outside of the Shoe. I had known about the concert for weeks and was very excited.
My last class is later in the day, so I went to the concert directly after class. There was a bunch of free stuff being given out. Frontier had a bunch of stations to stop by, and there was a chance to win a signed guitar. I got there early enough that I was fairly close to the stage.
Country concerts are one of the things that I love going to. Country music is my favorite and always has been. Lindsay Ell started off the concert, and her guitar playing was out of this world.
After Lindsay Ell performed, there was a lull while the set was changed so that Brad Paisley and his band could be out there. It was an amazing start to the concert. The area got a little crowded, but that is to be expected at a concert. The positioning of the stage worked much better than the positioning the Band Perry had when they performed the welcome week concert in 2013.
Brad Paisley played most of his popular songs. As a fan, I knew every word. He grabbed several people's phones that were in the front row and took videos and pictures. A little after he came out, Brad signed a guitar and handed it to one little girl that was in the front with her dad.
Brad Paisley has always been one of my favorite country singers to see perform. For years, I had seen him on TV performing at a country concert called Jamboree in the Hills. I saw him there this past year and thought that he put on an amazing show then and now.
Though both shows were great, each had a different vibe to them. At Jamboree, it was a lot of fun with Maddie and Tae, Tyler Farr, and the Gatlin Brothers being pulled onto the stage for a song. Jamboree is more of a festival feel than the concert on Thursday. Thursday's concert had more of a college feel to it. I loved the reactions the crowd had when Brad spoke. I loved that he chose to come to Ohio State for a concert. It was one of the best concerts I had ever been to.
