Bpi Taw Tdeh

An orphan and the chicken drumstick.

12

Once upon a time, there was an orphan who lived in a very small, old, and broken bamboo house. He has no one to be there for him. He has no one to be there for him. For fun, he likes to go out to hunt, fish, and just explore the forest. One day he decided to go out hunting, and he set out animal traps in the forest overnight so he can come back in the morning hoping he'll get something in the morning. He came home to get washed up, eat dinner or any little thing he has on the table for him and went to bed. He went to bed hoping he'll get something tomorrow in the traps he set up. Morning came and he got washed up. He got ready to go out to check on the traps. He put his shoes on, and start his way there. When he got there he checked all the traps, and he saw that he got nothing. However, the last trap he set up was still unopen, so he went to check. When he opened it, some weird thing was staring at him. He realized it was a chicken drumstick except the drumstick have eyes and it was green. He was so surprised, and he was even scared a little. He really didn't want to and he wasn't going to take that thing home with him. He was so sure of it until the thing spoke to him. He was even more surprised that the thing could speak to him. He was surprised it could even speak at all. When the thing spoke to him, it told him, "Bpi Taw Tdeh, pick me up" as it looked straight into the orphan's eyes. He really didn't want to pick it up but for some reason, he picked it up anyways. Before he picked the chicken drumstick up it kept saying and repeating the same line, "Bpi Taw Tdeh, pick me up. Bpi Taw Tdeh, pick me up. Bpi Taw Tdeh, pick me up." it kept saying that until he had to pick it up. When he did pick the chicken drumstick up, it started saying once again repeating the same line over and over until the orphan had to do as it says. It demanded this time, "Bpi Taw Tdeh, take me home" and the man did. The whole way back home the chicken drumstick kept saying and repeating the line until they got to the orphan's house. When they got there, it demanded the man to put itself down. It said, "Bpi Taw Tdeh, put me down" and he did. After that, the chicken drumstick demanded him to cut it. He did as the thing said. Once more, the chicken drumstick told him to cook its self. It said, "Bpi Taw Tdeh, cook me. Bpi Taw Tdeh, cook me." and he did again. He got the fire ready, put a pot on the fire, and put the green chicken drumstick into the pot. When it was all cooked and ready, the chicken drumstick demanded the man to eat it. The man was too scared and terrified to eat it, so he tried to run away but the drumstick grew and turned into a different figure. Finally, the man figured out what that thing was. It was a giant monster that had disguised itself as a chicken drumstick. The orphan man ran and ran until he got to two fields full of flowers, they were red and yellow. He heard a voice telling him that if he stood in the middle or within the flowers, he will be safe. However, the flowers are very short so he will have to crouch down, if he doesn't crouch down he will be eaten by the green giant and die. He looked up to where the voice was coming from and he saw that it was a bird that was telling him this and giving him this information. Regardless of who or what it was that was telling him this, he didn't want to risk the chance of him being eaten by the giant, so he went in the flower fields and hid there. The Giants came by and smelled for him, but it could only smell the scent of the red and yellow flowers. He couldn't find the man, so he went past the flower fields. The man was still crouching down, trying his best not to move but he was so tired and sore from running, and crouching down didn't help him. It made it very hard for him to breathe. He decided to stretch his legs for a little bit, and he thought the Giants have already gone far. As soon as he stretched his legs the giant smelled him and came running back to get him. The giant caught him and ate him. Bpi Taw Tdeh later woke up and realized it was all just a crazy dream.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
