Thank You Letter To My Boyfriend's Family

Everyone knows that you don’t get to pick your family. You don’t get to pick who your parents are, or your siblings. You do, however, get to pick your significant other which technically means you get to pick your second family. Thankfully, I couldn’t have picked a more perfect second family. Here is my personal thank you.

To His Mom: Thank you for treating me like another daughter. Thank you for always making sure I’m included in family plans and photos. Thank you for being an amazing cook, and letting me eat all of your food. Thank you for all of your talks full of advice and wisdom that I love so much. I don’t have the best relationship with my mom, and I’m lucky to be able to confide in you and call you my second mom.

To His Dad: Thank you for always greeting me with a warm smile. Thank you for talking sports and cars with me.Thank you for being such a great man and father that your kids, and everyone around you can look up to. I lost my dad and it’s been 2 long years without him. I’m glad I found the next best thing to him, and I hope one day I can call you “Dad”.

To His Siblings: I love you all so much, and can’t thank you enough for treating me like another sibling. Thank you for playing the Wii with me on weekends, and thanks for showing me how to throw a football. Thank you for playing around with Nick, and making him smile and laugh.

To His Aunts: Thank you for treating Nick like your own. Thank you for always being there for him, and listening to him vent about anything he needs to. We both look up to all of you so much, and I’m happy to know he’s got so many lovely women in his life, so thank you.

I can’t even begin to express my gratitude to all of you for accepting me how I am. You’re all so easy to talk to and get along with. Thank you for reminding me that family is about unconditional love, and support from one another. Thank you for being so good to me, and always being so welcoming.

Love Always, Kayleigh.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
