Alright ladies, if you have a boyfriend who is kick-ass at guitar (like mine) there are certain things you all should know. While dating a guitar player has it's perks, there can be some downfalls too.

But at the end of the day, you wouldn't want it any other way right? There is no better feeling than coming home and hearing your man playing one of your favorite songs after a long day at work. I know I love my guitar hero and I also learned these next 15 things. If you don't know them, you do now. Make this your bible!

1. They will play anywhere and everywhere

Personal Photo

Seriously I mean everywhere. Mine got into a trophy case with his brother AT A HOTEL. If he has his guitar with him (which 80% of the time he does) he'll start to play! If he doesn't have it, but sees someone with one...trust me he won't be afraid to ask to use it for a song or 2...or 5...

2. You'll find guitar picks EVERYWHERE

Giphy

Seriously, everywhere. I found one the other day in the fridge...I'm not joking!

3. They most likely have more than 1 guitar

Mine has a basement with about...8 of them...

4. They also most likely have names for them

Giphy

Not every guitar player does this, but majority do! They kind of form relationships with each of their guitars so it only makes sense to have names for them!

5. He'll spend more money on these than he'd like to admit to...

c1.staticflickr.com

He'll be tuning his guitar and you'll randomly hear the string break followed by, what is attempted to be a stifled, "S***!" Also followed by "Babe, can we run to Guitar Center?"

6. Girls will wanna flirt with him, even more, when they see he's good at guitar

You'll see them try and sneak their way in. Don't fret (ha, music joke) but he won't pay any mind to them. A musician doesn't date someone unless they are really serious about dating someone because most of the time they don't have time! If he chose you, that means he really chose you.

7. Do not try to control his life (aka don't dictate what he does or doesn't do with his music)

Don't be that girlfriend. He loves you but don't try to tell him he needs to play more or less. He does what he wants with his music because it is entirely his own.

8. You should be his biggest fan

Giphy

Seriously, go to his events. If he's in a band, wear their merch. Be there for when he books the gig he's been shooting for and when he gets shot down. You are his back bone and should support him through thick and thin!

9.It doesn't end once the show is over

Start enjoying caffeine now because when it's show time, it'll be your best friend. The show doesn't end once he leaves the stage. There is usually parties afterwards or him talking to people in the crowd as well as other artists. Don't bug him to go home, make sure they know you're his girl and that you support him!

He wants you to experience his journey with him, if you aren't willing to do that, don't be together

Giphy

Like I said if he chose to be with you, he really wants to be with you. But if you can't be willing to join him on his musical endeavors, don't string him along (ha, another music joke).

11. He wants to show you the new songs he's working on, always say yes!

Sometime's he'll want to show you when he first starts learning it. Other times he'll make you wait till he has it (almost) all the way down. Whenever that is, always say yes and always give him feedback. Don't be afraid to give him constructive criticism, but make sure you do it to where it's going to help him grow, not destroy his self esteem.

12. It's nice to take pictures/videos but make sure you actually watch him too.

Giphy

This is a big pet peeve of mine. I love watching my boyfriend play guitar. And while I love snapping some pics and getting a few videos here and there, I never do that for the entire show. I get so wrapped up in the moment of watching him do what he loves, it's not my focus. Don't be the girl that spends all her time on her phone that she forgets to actually watch/support him. Nothing is worse than looking out into the crowd to see your girlfriend on her phone instead of watching you play.

13. Spread the word!

If he's going to be playing, help him get a good crowd to watch him! Nothing is better than seeing a huge crowd for your show. It doesn't take much to post a quick status letting people know to be there or be square!

14. Learn the songs he sings, he'll love seeing you sing along

Seeing your girl in the audience is a heart warming moment. What's even more heart warming is when you sing along to the songs he's playing. It shows you actually listen.

15. Never let him forget you're proud of him

He works so hard and a lot of it is for you. Never let him go a day not knowing how proud you are of him for the incredible musician and man he is! You love him, let him know it!

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…
