Boxing For A Physical And Mental Workout

Do you ever get the feeling of just needing to punch something to get stress or anger out? Well here is your answer!

Over this past summer, I found a gym called Title Boxing Club in Edina, Minnesota. They have these gyms all over. I made a promise to myself that I would go at least four times in one week. From how much I enjoyed the classes I found myself going more than four times a week. If you can check out one of the Title Boxing Clubs I would highly suggest it, first class is free! In a one hour class, you go through 15 minutes of a warm-up to get your heart rate up, eight rounds of boxing with active rests and then 15 minutes of abs at the end. In one class you burn up to 1,000 calories. Another reason I like this particular boxing gym is that they focus on a full body workout, not training to fight. But at the same time getting the proper boxing techniques. http://titleboxingclub.com/

I think everyone should at least try boxing as a workout. It is beneficial in more than one way. I saw it as one an excellent exercise, but two, I saw the amount of stress and anxiety I had decrease quickly. I had found that boxing is an outlet to escape stress. It was one hour of my day to de-stress, not think about anything and also get to punch something. Everyone always has had days where your stress has built up where you just want to punch something. Well here is your opportunity, to get a great full body workout and a form of therapy. I was always looking forward to going to the classes every day.

In an ESPN article, they talk about reasons why you should box.

  1. It is a killer core workout. Straightens your core in a different way than other workouts do. All the twisting in a lower boxing stand is what works the abs.
  2. One word: cardio. “You’ll burn more calories in 15 minutes of boxing training than an hour on the treadmill.” Its a very high fat burning workout.
  3. Increase hand-eye coordination.
  4. Improves your rhythm.
  5. Sharpens your mind.

All I can say from everything I have read, talking to boxing trainers and from experience, boxing is not only a physical workout but also an emotional one. Boxing gets your stress, anxiety, or just anything bothering you out. It increases your physical and mental toughness. For everyone, not just girls, it is a way to build your self-defense. Being able to defend and protect yourself if you were ever found yourself in a situation. Boxing for your form of working out also builds your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Get out and give boxing a try and see how you feel after. Keep it up and see the improvement you make physically and mentally.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
