Buying a brand new car is so exciting. Wow. When I was saving to buy a new car it was difficult. Why? I’m a girl and I want to shop and not pay a car payment. I was driving a 1997 Chevy Cavalier.
One day I was driving a friend home. When I pushed on the brakes they malfunctioned. I almost crashed into her mom's car. I had taken my Chevy to seven different mechanics, not one of them could figure out the issue! I got home that night; told myself, I didn’t care what it takes I’m buying a new car. I kept thinking, what if I had my nieces and nephews in the car?
Buying a car is a lot of responsibility, especially considering that I haven’t had a car payment in years. I had to make a decision, continue driving my Chevy and take the chance of crashing or buy a new car and be safe?
I used the auto buying program through Costco Wholesale. I called the 800 number that was provided in the brochure, gave them my membership number. The person assisting me asked what I was looking for. I gave the make, model, and year of the car I was interested in testing and purchasing. I considered Chevy, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Dodge, and Ford.
While I was still on the phone with the gentleman Chevy and Ford were already calling me. I called back and made appointments to test drive. I went to Chevy, didn’t care too much for the Cruze and the Malibu was too big; next was Ford. I test drove the Fusion. It was too big for me.
Then I test drove the Focus and I have to say I fell in love. Economical, loved the mirrors and Bluetooth — it was perfect. I traded in my Chevy for a Ford.
About a month into having my Ford it started having problems.
I called Ford and I was advised that the car was breaking itself in, ok I said and continued driving. About two months later it was giving me problems. The final straw for me was when I was turning onto the freeway my the car turned off. I took it in as the people there told me not to worry, that my life is not in danger. Just fix whatever the issue is, Ford gave me a rental.
This happened seven times until one day I got so upset, got on Google to look for a lemon law attorney and found Norman Taylor Associates. I called and spoke to a gentleman, I don't remember his name. He asked that I send all the invoices I have as proof. I scanned all that I had available and within 30 minutes he calls me back, tells me I have a very strong case against Ford. He did mention that Ford is one of the most unethical companies to fight but he was good and will do it.
From the moment I hired the law firm, it took about two months. I get a call from my attorney telling me that I won. Ford will buy their car back plus I get everything that I invested.
