Adult and Kid-Friendly Drinks For Your 4th of July

Hello July 2016!

With you comes one of the best holidays of the year, Fourth of July. And there's nothing quite like spending the day surrounded by family, friends, good food, great weather, and ending it with fireworks from all directions.

Well prepare yourself, because now, you can add fun drinks to the already fun filled day, (and some of these recipes are sure to make your holiday even more explosive)!

STARTING WITH DRINKS THE LITTLE ONES WILL LOVE!

Captain America Kid's Drink

Such a fun and cool drink for the kids to slurp down! This easy recipe calls for majority Cherry Sprite and Blueberry Kool-Aid. Also recommends adding a splash of grenadine and some pina colada mix for extra flavor. Feel free to get creative and mix up other flavors or sodas!

Kid Friendly Punch

Really you can use any three kid-friendly red, white, and blue, colored drinks that you think would taste good together for this punch!

These JELL-O shots are super easy, look great, and are able to be made with or without alcohol! Take an ordinary JELL-O recipe, make it with Cherry and Berry Blue JELL-O, add whipped topping and layer it in shot glasses, (plastic recommended).

ANOTHER REFRESHMENT, PLEASE!

4th of July Mojito

A perfect day for this festive and refreshing mojito! You mix lime juice, simple syrup, mint, strawberries and blueberries. Add rum and stir. Fill your glass with ice and top with some club soda. Garnish with a skewer of strawberries and blueberries and sprinkle edible glitter stars on top for some 4th of July fun!

THE SPARKLERS AREN'T THE ONLY THINGS SPARKLING!

4th of July Wine Sparklers

There's already so much to do as you prepare for the holiday, but this two ingredient cocktail will be the perfect drink for the pitcher. Place watermelon pieces, (that you can cut into star shapes), and blueberries in the bottom of a pitcher. Pour in white wine and soda, and mix gently. Serve with a few fruit pieces in each cup.

As an extra tip: Keep the fruit and liquids chilled in the refrigerator until just before serving.

THE HEAT WILL BE THE PERFECT EXCUSE TO SLURP ON THIS SLUSH ALL DAY LONG!

Red, White, and Blue Vodka Lemonade Slush

Although this drink is required to be served immediately, this slush will be sure to keep you and your loved ones cool all day, (and get you feeling some type of way). It's patriotic look will also make slurping this slush even more fun! ---- Click the link for the detailed recipe.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
