Lectures can be really boring, especially if they are over an hour or taught by monotonous professors. Here are some things I do to pass the time:
1. Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Snapchat.
Selfies and pictures of food are more interesting when you're learning about math or science.
2. Texting.
If no one knows that I'm bored in lecture, did it really happen?
3. Tinder.
Swiping on Tinder is a little awkward in public, so I hope no one notices!
4. Check my email.
Maybe my TA will finally answer my questions!
5. Contemplate life.
It's hard not to let your mind wander sometimes.
6. Secretly watch my favorite T.V. show at the time.
I'll attempt to avoid awkward stares by trying not to laugh out loud!
7. Fix my makeup.
I have to look nice for the next boring class.
8. Online shopping.
Maybe a new pair of shoes will make me feel better about my less than ideal grade in this class.
9. Write articles for Odyssey
Like this one!
10. Catch up on sleep.
I might not learn anything, but at least I'll get credit for attending!
11. Homework/Studying.
At least this is productive!
12. Write Poetry.
Inspiration can strike at any time.
13. Looking at Pinterest for DIY projects I'll probably never do.
It's nice to think I'm creative and artsy sometimes.
14. Braid and un-braid my hair for no reason.
This is more entertaining than it sounds, boys!
15. Play pointless games on my phone.
Maybe I'll finally get the high score on Fruit Ninja... even though no one plays it anymore.
Hopefully, not all your lectures are boring. Once I got out of introductory classes and started learning more about my major, I did these 15 things less and less. But if I'm still bored, I'll try to take a few notes here or there or at least pay attention at certain times. Multi-tasking is a great skill to develop!
