Georgia State just hit it big time in the NBA. If you followed the NBA Draft at all last week, you’ve already heard the good news. R.J. Hunter put us on the map once again (in case you need a reminder of the first time), because the Boston Celtics snagged him with the 28th pick overall.
A record-setting Guard from GSU is about to show Boston how it's done! I know you're all like me and just waiting to drop money on a Celtics Hunter jersey.
The fact that Georgia State Basketball got some recognition in March Madness, and again during the first round of the NBA Draft, is a huge win for our school and the city of Atlanta. Even a couple months ago, people had no idea where or what Georgia State University even was. However, with the help of Hunter, his shot was heard 'round the world, and a fantastic basketball team this past season, that's thankfully no longer the case. Georgia State Men's Basketball is just what the doctor ordered. They're even nominated for an Espy, which is icing on the cake (Vote Georgia State over Baylor for "Biggest Upset"). With a rapidly-evolving campus, this recognition puts GSU in an even more positive light.
We're all happy for Hunter's early departure to go to the Pros and join the Celtics. But at the same time, the selfish parts of us wish he was staying for his senior year, right?
