I Was Born In The 90s, But I'm A 2000s Kid

No one really understands pure bliss until you've seen a mash-up episode on Disney Channel.

I'm talking about the '97, '98, '99 kids that do not really know what living in the 90s truly feels like. I mean, I am sure we all like to claim that we are 90s babies, because technically we are, however, we didn't live that life.

I have come to the conclusion that the early 2000s were truly amazing. No one really understands pure bliss until you've seen a mash-up episode on Disney Channel. Let's not pretend when Disney Channel put That So Raven, Hannah Montana, and The Suite Life all on one episode that it didn't change our lives.

In the early 2000s, there was no such thing as a bad spin-off show on Disney. I mean, come on, I can't trust anyone who didn't love Cory in the House! I used to wrap myself in a blanket and make my sister unroll me like the episode where Meena shows her American Clothes under her Bahavian dress. Truly iconic.

Also, let's not all forget when we all first experienced betrayal –– when Jamie Lynn Spears decided to ruin Zoey 101 by getting pregnant. Our 10-year-old hearts never really got the full closure we all longed for.

Don't even get me started on the fashion! Gaucho pants, jeans under skirts, and rubber band chokers! Can we all just come together as the not-so-90s babies and bring back the super-soft Juicy tracksuits? I'm begging.

It sounds weird to say but, I miss the Myspace days! We can all understand the blood, sweat, and tears it took to choose who was going to be on the top list of friends! Choosing the perfect layout for your profile is equivalent to choosing the perfect outfit for a date, nowadays.

Can we just go back to the days were the only thing we had to worry about was if Miley was going to pick Jake or Jesse? Life in the 2000s was a blast, I don't feel bad about missing out on the true 90s culture because I enjoyed every minute of my childhood.

I have a sister that's only 18 months older than me, so we grew up watching the same stuff, playing with the same toys, and listening to all the music the 2000s had to offer us. We never watched Saved by the Bell, Boy Meets World, or any true 90s classics that everyone raves about. But I am ok with that because I had Libby Lu, High School Musical dance along specials, Wonder Ball, and so much more!

For all the not-so-90s kids, I just want to say, we had it good! We are all at the end of our teens now and in our 20s, and it's hard not to cringe when I see the 10-year anniversary of all of our favorite shows and movies.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.
