I admit. I have ADHD and I find it very hard to focus and to stay busy. If you clicked on this article, you must have been curious as to what you think you should do when you're bored. So from experience, I'm here to help! Here are a few things to do when you're bored, and a few ways to cure that blistering boredom!!
1. Learn something new
It's always fun to learn something new. Often times, acquiring a new skill can be helpful at times. Just think about it. Learning to cook, write a poem, code on the computer, or even a few basic words in a new language are all fun and useful skills that may help you one day!
•learn to code
•learn to cook
•learn a new language
•learn a new form of poetry
2. Exercise
Exercising has so many great benefits, and I give you proof they are all real and true! Just by taking even ten minutes out of your day to take a walk, a run, do some sit ups, push ups, even dance around your room, can do wonders for you. Here are some benefits:
• improve your mind
I am not joking when I tell you my grades skyrocketed once I started working out regularly. I even found out something crazy! But you'll have to read my next true tale for that ;)
• boosts mood and confidence!!
When I was a kid, I had the worst self esteem you could think of. It even continues throughout my adolescence. But again, when I started working out regularly, that esteem shot right up. I feel better now than ever before, just from working out. Scientifically, exercise releases endorphines: little neurotransmitters that make you feel happy and energized. In return, you start to feel happy, confident, and amazing in your skin.
• body transformation
There is no secret that working out makes your body change. If your super thin, it can help you bulk up. If you're heavy, it can help you lose weight. But either way, if you were looking for a body transformation, exercise is your best bet!
•it's fun!!
Exercising can be a lot of fun if you chose something that makes you happy! I love dancing, so I always attend Zumba at my local gym, or even just put music on and dance around. Either way, it is a great way to improve your mood, and give you the confidence you need to conquer the day!
3. Plan Something
Have you ever pretended you had all the money in the world? Have you ever thought about those extravagant things you would buy, or parties you would throw? Put yourself in that mindset! Pretend, just for thirty minutes, that you have all the money you could ever want. Sometimes, seeing what you could earn with some hard work can even inspire you to get up and start towards that goal!
•plan your dream wedding
•buy your dream house and decorate it (hello interior design games!)
•plan a party
•plan a dream vacation
4. Back to Basics
Preschool was a blast! Admit it, you miss it. But there's no reason why that fun should end. The things we did in preschool are actually amazing tricks adults use now to distress and eliminate boredom. Try them out!
• coloring
• arts and crafts
• play with play-doh
• make a puzzle
• play some games
• draw
• take a nap
• read a book
• write a story or poem
• write a letter
• watch a movie
5. When all else fails...
If you've gone through every idea so far, then I only have three more options for you:
• take a bath or shower
Sometimes, those creative juices flow best when you're in your own space.
• watch tv or a movie (Netflix)
I mean, the television is there for entertainment, right?
•YouTube
YouTube is full of videos that can teach you something new, make you laugh, or experience a bought of nostalgia watching a show from your childhood. Either way, you can't go wrong :)
I hope these ideas help cure your boredom. Whatever you do, make sure you have fun and enjoy yourself! Have a beautiful day!!
