Now that we have all been home for about a week now, it is safe to say that the boredom is beginning to kick in. Our families are still busy with school or work and some of our friends may have already started their internships. So, as a broke college student back at home, what are you going to do? I mean, you can't go and blow your money on getting lunch everyday! Here are some ideas that can help get your mind out of the "boredom gutter" and enjoy every piece of your summer.

Binge a Netflix series.

Have you ever really want to understand why the Internet broke when Derek Shepard (spoiler alert) was killed off "Grey's Anatomy"? Well, here is your chance. When is the next time that you are going to have this freedom? Go ahead and get yourself some popcorn and potentially a glass of wine and enjoy the ride.

Clean out your closet.

I get it; it's summer and the last thing you want to do is swift through your wardrobe and toss items you don't wear, but it could work to your advantage. Making space in your closet allots for more room for you to buy a new summer wardrobe! Plus, you could take your old clothes to a place like Playto's Closet and earn some quick cash to get you through the weeks before you start your internship.

Cook.

If you were held up in a dorm room this past semester, then this is the perfect time to experiment with your cooking skills. Get on Pinterest and find some amazing recipes that you have been dying to try. You can even offer to make dinner for your family one night and I guarantee that they will come home hungry and happy!

Craft.

So you probably already have a billion of crafted items whether it's from big/little or wanting to spruce up you dorm room. Well, why not get a little creative with your room from home? Try mason jar crafts! They seem to be really popular and can serve as a great way to organize objects in your bathroom or room.

Make a summer playlist.

If you like relaxing by the pool or driving with the windows down, then now is the time to make that official summer playlist. Find out the hottest tunes for a summer and get ready to memorize the words that will constantly be on your mind for the next few months.

Start a novel.

Sometimes a little too much Netflix can be a little too much. There are plenty of awesome books out there that will keep you on the edge of your seat over the summer. Go to Half Price Books and get yourself a stack of books that you are interested in reading. Once school starts again, you will not have time to get invested into these novels, so make it count now!

Obviously, there are a million things you could do with your free time, but make it count. While summer seems like a long time, it will fly by before you know it and you will be wishing you were bored again.

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
