I like reading.
There I said it. It may be an unpopular opinion, but you can still find my nose in a book at any hour of the day. Usually, during the school year, I spend a lot of time working on supplemental readings for school. Mainly books on research, psychology, and leadership are typically among the most popular. Yes, I read my psychology textbook for fun.
Yet, once break begins I pick up a fiction novel and my love of reading is back, just like riding a bike.
Curl up by the fireplace and enjoy some of the best classic fiction novels.
1. "Maze Runner" by James Dashner
You will not be able to put this book down. I read this book in ONE DAY! I don't want to give too much away because you really won't know what is happening until the very last chapter.
2. "The Call of the Wild" by Jack London
Jack London is a fantastic author. This book was written in 1903, and has never been out of copies. Once you read it, you will know why. London writes from the perspective of a canine named Buck.
3. "The Postcard Killers" by James Patterson
An intense thriller focused on a heartbroken father chasing after myserteous murderers. James Patterson does not disappoint. After several brutal murders were discovered throughout Europe postcards were sent to the media that evidently left clue as to who was behind the killings.
4. "Reconstructing Amelia" by Kimberly McCreight
An unexplained suicide of a young teen attending a private school compels secrets untold to come out. This book is breathtaking because it shows the depth of bullying and mean girls at a prep school. This book has a hinge of gossip girl mixed with NCIS.
5. "Pure" by Julianna Baggott
Post-apoctalyptic, two worlds collide, with a dash of romance. I am hooked after the first chapter. Can you imagine if you lived inside a dome? Trapped with no understand of what is on the outside. On the contrary, could you imagine living in ash without any way of getting clean air except inside a dome the government is keeping you from. With a sprinkle of friendship and romance this novel will keep your imagination twirling.
6. "The Fellowship of the Ring" by J.R. Tolkien
If you haven't heard of the Lord of the Rings trilogy now is your chance to jump on the bandwagon. Tolkien is an excellent writer and you won't be disappointed with this novel. Fantasy, elves, dwarves, and one of the most epic stories of all time.
7. "Tommyknockers" by Stephen King
Stephen King is one of the strangest authors I have ever read. Weird things are going on in the town of Haven. A flying saucer is dug up in the woods. The town's members develop the skills of telepathy and reading minds becomes second nature. King writes in such a unique way. In this book it seems like there is no main character at all, but a million characters that are introduced. You won't want to miss this creepy tale.
8. "Love In The Time Of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Talk about a romantic classic. This novel, originally written in Spanish and published in 1985, is an eloquently scripted love story around the time of the Cholera epidemic. If you are a fan of love triangles you will gush over Marquez's masterpiece.
This list sure keeps me busy on rainy Sundays. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
