Before attending the college I read a lot. I'm talking at least two books a week, and all for fun. My love for reading was what inspired me and made me want to major in creative writing. Four years later, I'm going to graduate with that degree in a little over a week. Unfortunately, so much of my love for reading has been snuffed out because of the constant flow of assigned texts. Almost all my reading time the last few years has been books I've been forced to read, not books I necessarily wanted to read.

With college rapidly coming to a close, I'm looking forward to reviving my love of read now that I'll have more time to read for fun. Here are some books that will surely revive anyone's love of reading:

"The Lies of Locke Lamora" — Scott Lynch.

"The Lies of Locke Lamora" is a fantastic fantasy story about a band of thieves. This book is full of adventure, heart-stopping action, realistic characters, and humor. Seriously, I've found myself laughing out loud more than once when reading this.

"Kindred" — Octavia Butler.

This is one of the few books I was assigned to read for a class that I actually ended up really enjoying. It's an interesting mix of fantasy and historical fiction and it packs a punch with its premise and themes.

"Illuminae" — Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff.

This book is just pure fun. It's a science fiction book and told through all these different documents, like IMs and confiscated government papers. There's action, suspense, humor, romance, and drama. All in space.

"The Book Thief" — Markus Zusak.

This is a book I come back to time and time again. It's so interesting and heartbreaking. It's full of incredible characters and is told from the point of view of Death, which gives the story even more of an edge.

"The Martian" — Andy Weir.

There's so much hype around this book, especially since the movie. If you haven't already read it, this needs to be on your list. It's even better than the movie.

"The Princess Bride" — William Goldman.

Adventure, romance, princesses, pirates, and so much more. This is another book that's even better than the movie (and, let's be real, the movie is already pretty awesome).

"The Handmaid's Tale" — Margaret Atwood.

Now that school's finally over, you'll have a chance to catch up on "The Handmaid's Tale" TV series! Might as well read the book while you're at it!

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
