To the booklover, there is no genre that they will not read. They may have a favorite, but they will try to read anything. Here is a list of books that every single person that considers them a lover of books, that I kindly suggest to read. Some may be long, but that shouldn’t scare you if you believe in yourself.
1. The Diary of A Young Girl by Anne Frank
Translated from the original language, Dutch, this book is a diary of a Jewish girl named Anne Frank during WWII, and is revered as one of the most valuable records of WWII history.
2. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
The description on Amazon says it can change lives. My sister has read it and holds it in high esteem. This novel is definitely on my list of books to read.
3. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bontë
Classic book with a slight gothic twist and always entertaining every time you read it. Bontë had to publish under a different name at this period in time. Would it have been should a great title if society knew a woman had written the novel? Who can tell?
4. The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Two words: It’s Sherlock! Check it out and find the similarities in the hit TV series.
5. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Want to know why there are some people that get upset about movies and Hollywood going way off the original story? Read it and be enlightened. I shall be too, since I have yet to read this novel and am eager to understand why too.
6. The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
Every child and adult needs to read this children’s book. Honestly, please do.
7. Dracula by Bram Stoker
Gothic novels are the best, and I still need to read this one!
8. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
This is the kind of book that children are taught to read in school. Please don’t allow the fact, if you were forced to read it, ruin it. Try reading it again after high school and see if you can appreciate it for the work of art it is.
9. Grimm’s Fairy Tales by Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm
Disney is great and all, but they based their princess movies off of Grimms’ versions of the fairy tales.
10. The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
The Sherlock series does a twisted episode based on this book also!
11. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
Read it. It’s a good read, and the movie with Jim Caviezel is amazing. If you haven’t seen the movie or read the book, I suggest doing both.
