When I typically think of how I’ll spend my free time, I gravitate straight towards Netflix. Looking forward to binge watching my next favorite show is always a treat at the end of a tough day. It is an effortless past time to partake in, and I normally always choose Netflix over reading. Whenever I think of reading, I tend to see myself lain out in a beach chair, feet immersed in the sand, reading an enticing book pulling me in much like the current. Although it may not be Summer, this is the perfect time to cuddle up by the fire and finally make time to read the book that’s collected a thick dusty coating. Once you get wrapped into the world of your book, it will be just like wanting to play the next episode but instead it will be reading the next chapter.
Here are a few books that are a captivating good read for a relaxing break:
Hopeless by Colleen Hoover
The title says it all. When all hope seems lost, Dean Holder, comes to save the day. Sky, a seventeen-year-old high school girl, is drawn to him. She knows between his past reputation and still childish ways, he is no good, yet he does anything to get to know her and she is doing everything to cover up her feelings. Secrets are being kept, yet when will they be revealed and who will share them?
Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover
This is the sequel to “Hopeless.” Colleen Hoover knows how to lure in her audience and keep them right on the hook, never wanting to let go. Dean Holder has a lot on his mind and the only thing to do rather than clear the air and move on, is to start from the beginning and work your way back.
Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick
Britt Pheiffer had different intentions for a hiking trip that soon turned into being taken hostage. The engaging drama between an ex-boyfriend and 2 fugitives that take her captive, is a non-stop page turner. The atmosphere that Fitzpatrick sets is perfect for this time of year, a snowy blizzard has just hit and Britt is forced to take shelter from the storm in an isolated cabin far from civilization. I don’t think this is the hiking trip she truly had in mind…
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
Four waves have hit the Earth…yet the fifth is still to come. What will it bring this round? The Earth is nothing as it use to be and things will never be the same. Yancey takes the reader through the journey of Cassie, a typical teenage girl, struggling to find her brother, Sam, with the help of someone she doesn’t fully known if she can trust, when all trust has been abandoned. What will Cassie encounter as she takes on the journey into the unknown?

Finley Sinclair travels to Ireland to study abroad in hopes of somehow feeling a connection to her now deceased brother, Will. She has felt empty since he died and is on the endless search for something more. Along her journey through the book, she meets a teen sensation, Beckett Rush, which leads her to a breaking point in her life.
